I first heard of the 365 challenge from my friend Kat at the end of 2009. The challenge is simply to take a photo every day for a year. When you consider it takes a couple of minutes to take and upload a photo, you will be forgiven for thinking this as a simple challenge. The real challenge rests with the motivation and creativity of the photographer to produce something inspiring. Furthermore, the tenacity to find something worth photographing, especially on those sleepy, tiring or frantic days.
After buying my first SLR camera in the summer of 2009 and seeing the exceptional results that some of my friends had attained within their own projects, i was sure that i would attempt this daunting challenge at sometime in the near future.
Originally, the motivation for starting the challenge lacked drive and purpose for me. I had been delaying something that i probably should have just jumped into a long time ago. However, it was fortuitously met with my acceptance into Ritsumeikan University. A year long program to study Japanese intensively, in the Japanese iconic city of Kyoto seemed to be the perfect opportunity. Indisputably, this was going to be the perfect chance.
As i write this introduction now, many things are racing through my brain. Fears - that i won't be successful with this project. Hopes - that i can produce at least one inspiring photo, to make this all worthwhile and dreams - that Brighton & Hove Albion FC can beat Leyton Orient FC in the cup tonight.
Please enjoy looking at my photos and feel free to leave me, praise, criticism and advice. I hope you can all enjoy see part of my life for a year.
