Welcome to Fukuoka and this is what their shopping centres look like. No really! This is the famous Canal City, which when Japanese people say it sounds a lot like Canal Shitty.
The 5 stories act as a kind of amphitheatre for the stage in the middle, where jugglers, pathetic japanese rappers and ugly foreigners who are trying to impress japanese people with their language skills but have forgotten that they only make balloon animals for a living, perform.
At every hour and half hour, the water jets (which you can see to the right) sprang into life to create a magical display of water shooting and spraying into the air accompanied by the sound of music. This particular tune was from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Having lived on Iki, Canal city was a great place just to see people, hang out, watch a movie and cure any hangovers from the night before with the ramen shops that were on the top floor.
